Glucosaminsulfat · Glucosamin-HCl
Glucosamine
An amino sugar and a building block of joint cartilage, usually sold together with chondroitin. A 2022 meta-analysis found no benefit for that combination in dogs and cats and advises against it. We still list such products but do not rate their amounts.
Why this grade: The 2022 meta-analysis by Barbeau-Grégoire found no effect in eight of nine trials and concludes that glucosamine and chondroitin should not be used in dogs or cats. A placebo-controlled trial in dogs likewise found no difference from placebo.

Why there is no amount here
The trial evidence conflicts, and the amounts makers use do not come from an efficacy study. Putting a range here would measure whether a product is dosed like other products, not whether the amount does anything.
