Privacy policy

This site is operated from Germany. The German version of this policy is the legally binding one; this English rendering is for convenience.

1. Privacy at a glance

Petlements compares supplements for dogs and cats. We sell nothing ourselves: this website has no orders, no customer accounts, no contact form and no cookies of its own.

Personal data is therefore processed in only a few situations: when your browser loads the website, when you consent to audience measurement, when you follow a link to a shop, and when you reach us by email or phone. This policy describes each of them, the legal basis, and your rights.

2. Controller

The controller for data processing on this website is:

Beatus-Office
Schönburgstraße 19
12103 Berlin
Germany

Phone: +49 17644250832
Email: info@beatus-office.com

3. Delivering the website

When our website is accessed, our hosting provider processes technically necessary information, in particular:

This is needed to deliver the website, protect it against attacks and detect errors. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in operating the website securely and reliably.

We serve fonts from our own server. Visiting the website opens no connection to Google or any other font provider.

4. Hosting and database

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States. Vercel processes the data listed in section 3 on our behalf.

Our database is operated by Neon, LLC, a Databricks, Inc. company (160 Spear Street, Suite 1300, San Francisco, CA 94105, United States), on servers in Frankfurt am Main. It holds our product catalogue and the click log described in section 9, but no names, contact details or IP addresses of visitors.

We have a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR with both providers.

Both providers are companies based in the United States, so processing in the United States cannot be ruled out. Both state that they are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The European Commission's standard contractual clauses apply in addition.

5. Contacting us

If you reach us by email or phone, we process your details solely to answer your enquiry.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for enquiries about a business relationship. We delete the details once the enquiry is dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

6. Links to shops and affiliate programmes

We sell no products. If you buy something, you enter into the contract directly with the shop concerned, and only that shop processes your order data, under its own privacy policy.

Some links are affiliate links and are marked "Ad". If you buy through one, we receive a commission; the price you pay does not change. So that the purchase can be attributed to us, the link carries a partner identifier and, for some programmes, also passes through the affiliate network's server. At present these are the Amazon Associates programme and Awin. What is processed there is governed by the privacy policies of those providers and of the shop: Awin's privacy notice and Amazon's privacy notice. For the redirect through Awin, Awin and we are joint controllers within the meaning of Art. 26 GDPR.

The affiliate programmes do not give us any information about you personally, only aggregated reports on clicks, sales and commissions.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

7. Recipients

We pass personal data only to the service providers named in this policy, and only as far as they need it to provide their service: Vercel for hosting and, only with your consent, audience measurement, and Neon for the database.

We do not sell data or pass it on for advertising purposes.

8. Cookies and storage on your device

We set no cookies of our own.

We store exactly one entry on your device, in your browser's local storage: your decision about audience measurement. Storing it is strictly necessary so that we do not ask again on every page, and so that a refusal is remembered too. The legal basis is § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The entry holds your answer, the date and a version number. It never leaves your browser.

You can change or withdraw your decision at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.

When you follow a link to a shop, that shop may set cookies on its own website, in particular to attribute an order to an affiliate programme. That happens on the shop's website and is governed by its privacy policy.

9. Audience measurement and click statistics

Vercel Web Analytics. We measure which pages are viewed using Vercel Web Analytics. The provider is Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States.

This tool is loaded only after you have explicitly consented. If you refuse, or make no decision, it is not loaded and no data whatsoever is sent to it. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It processes the address you visited, the referring page, and coarse information about device, browser and country. According to the provider, IP addresses are not stored and visitors are not recognised across websites.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future, through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

For processing in the United States, see section 4.

Clicks on shop links. Every link to a shop goes through a redirect address on our own site. When it does, we log on our server which offer was clicked, which page it was clicked from, whether it is an affiliate link, and a value calculated from your IP address, your browser identifier and the date.

Neither your IP address nor your browser identifier is stored. The calculation also uses a secret that is not held in the database, so the value cannot be reversed from the stored data. It changes daily. We delete the value after 90 days. What remains is a count of which offer was clicked from which page, with no link to any person.

This log is the basis on which we reconcile our accounts with the affiliate programmes, and it lets us spot clicks counted twice. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You may object to this processing under Art. 21 GDPR.

9a. Feedback through the form

On the "About" page you can tell us what you are missing here. We store only your text, the optional choice of dog or cat, the page the form was sent from, and that page's language. We collect no name, no email address, no IP address and no user agent. That is also why we cannot reply to feedback, which the form says.

If you write contact details into the text yourself, we process them as part of that text. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving this website under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete feedback once it has been reviewed, and after twelve months at the latest.

10. Your rights

Within the statutory conditions you have in particular the following rights:

Access: You can request information about which personal data we process about you.

Rectification: You can request the correction of inaccurate personal data or the completion of incomplete personal data.

Erasure: Under certain conditions you can request the erasure of your personal data.

Restriction of processing: Under certain conditions you can request the restriction of processing of your personal data.

Data portability: Under certain conditions you have the right to receive the personal data you provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.

Objection: On grounds relating to your particular situation, you can object to certain processing of your personal data.

Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing carried out up to the withdrawal remains unaffected.

11. Right to complain to a supervisory authority

If you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR, you have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.

The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (www.datenschutz-berlin.de).

12. Storage period

Your decision about audience measurement stays stored in your browser until you change it through "Cookie settings" or clear your browser data.

We delete the value in the click log (section 9) after 90 days.

We delete enquiries by email or phone once they have been dealt with. Feedback from the form (section 9a) is deleted after twelve months at the latest.

Otherwise, we store personal data only for as long as the respective purpose requires. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

13. Changes to this privacy policy

We update this privacy policy when our website, the services we use or the legal requirements change.
