An amino acid from green tea. Several small studies in dogs and cats that are frightened of noises.
Why this grade: The only placebo-controlled study involved ten laboratory dogs (Araujo et al. 2010); every other study in dogs and cats was open-label, without a control group. The results point one way but do not establish it.

- Dog4–10 mgBasis: Die Gewichtsstaffel von Anxitane, dem Produkt aus den Studien, umgerechnet auf den Tag: unter 10 kg zweimal täglich eine halbe Tablette zu 50 mg, 11 bis 24 kg zweimal eine halbe zu 100 mg, ab 25 kg zweimal eine ganze zu 100 mg. Das ergibt je nach Gewicht 4 bis 10 mg je kg und Tag; 2 bis 5 mg je kg ist die Menge je Gabe. Eine Dosisfindung ist das nicht. Die Hundestudien (Pike et al. 2015, Michelazzi et al. 2010, Araujo et al. 2010) sind offen und ohne Kontrollgruppe.
- Cat50+ mgBasis: Dramard et al. 2018 (PMC6178259, Irish Veterinary Journal): 25 mg zweimal täglich, also 50 mg je Katze und Tag, unabhängig vom Gewicht, weshalb die Menge hier als feste Tagesmenge hinterlegt ist. Offene Studie mit 33 Katzen ohne Kontrollgruppe.
