Methylsulfonylmethan
MSM
Evidence: Traditional useJoints & mobility
An organic sulphur compound, long used in joint products. Controlled trials exist in humans for the knee, but none on dosing in dogs. We list MSM products but do not rate their amounts.
Why this grade: There is no controlled study of MSM on its own in dogs or cats. The usual amounts come from the human literature, and in animal studies MSM appears only as part of mixtures whose effect cannot be pinned on any single ingredient.

Why there is no amount here
There is no veterinary dosing guideline for dogs or cats. The range in circulation comes from the human literature and from manufacturers.
