Tablets with 100 mg of DL-methionine for cats. Four a day give 400 mg, an amount inside the range at which a cat's urine pH measurably moves. The pastes in the same comparison deliver a tenth of that.

Basis of the reference: Für Katzen nennen dieselben Monographien 200 bis 1.000 mg je Tier und Tag, also unabhängig vom Gewicht, weshalb die Menge hier als feste Tagesmenge hinterlegt ist. Als Größenordnung: etwa 185 bis 370 mg je kg senkten den Harn-pH-Wert der Katze um rund 0,8 Einheiten. Auch hier ist der pH-Wert der einzige gemessene Endpunkt.
Worth knowing: Do not add it on top of a food already formulated to lower urine pH: together they overshoot easily. Urine pH belongs measured rather than guessed, and that is a job for a vet.
