Why there is no amount here: FEDIAF sets no biotin requirement for dogs: a dog makes enough of its own through its gut flora. So there is no reference amount for dogs here, and a biotin product for dogs addresses a need the guideline does not recognise.
Basis of the reference: FEDIAF Nutritional Guidelines 2024, Tabelle für ausgewachsene Hunde, 18,00 mg je 1.000 kcal ME, umgerechnet über den dort angesetzten Erhaltungsbedarf von 110 kcal/kg^0,75. Beide Energiespalten der Tabelle ergeben dieselbe Zahl je kg^0,75, was die Umrechnung bestätigt. Wichtig: das ist der gesamte Tagesbedarf, den ein Alleinfuttermittel bereits deckt. Die Zahl ist nur dann ein Maßstab, wenn selbst gekocht oder gebarft wird oder ein Mangel festgestellt wurde.
Worth knowing: Do not add on top of a complete food that already provides enough zinc.
